Founded by Neil and Diane Balnaves, The Balnaves Foundation has a commitment to support medicine and creativity in the arts.

The Foundation's particular interest in sculpture has generated the annual Balnaves Foundation Sculpture Projects at the Art Gallery of NSW. The inaugural group exhibition of 2003, Still life, included Ricky Swallow, who represented Australia at the Venice Biennale in 2005. In 2007 the Foundation will support Callum Morton’s exhibition in Venice.

The Foundation is also the exhibition patron for Sculpture by the Sea and finances the Open House Program at the Sydney Opera House and the Youth Program at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Generation Next.
